Summer Reading

Dear Students,

One of the goals of Baltimore County Public Schools is to improve achievement for all students.  One initiative designed to accomplish this goal is the “Strive for 25” reading program, which proposes that each child reads or has read to them 25 books each school year.  We, at Arbutus Middle School, believe that reading should be an exciting part of every child’s life.  In an attempt to help students get a head start on achieving the goal of reading 25 books, we are providing a list of several outstanding books that students might enjoy reading this summer.  You are not limited to this list.  You may select any book appropriate for middle school readers.  Be sure to check your local Baltimore County Public Library branch for more ideas or visit the summer reading website at http://www.bcpl.info/kids-teens-parents-teachers/teens-summer-reading.

EARN EXTRA CREDIT BY READING

As you read this summer, complete Parts A and B of the form below.  Then, turn in your completed form to Mr. Whitby in the library when you return to school.  You can receive credit for reading up to five (5) books towards your Strive For 25 goal for the 2016-2017 school year.
